John G. Taylor, PhD, M.Ed., MACC, LPC is an Author, Assistant Professor, Sexuality Educator, and Licensed Professional Counselor in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Taylor works with couples and individuals to navigate through the challenges in their lives.
He is the host of the Spotify podcast: My Mortality Matters: The Voices and Lives of Black Men. He counsels individuals, couples, and families who are dealing with depression, anxiety, suicidal ideations, relationship issues, domestic violence, sexual violence, and sexual identity.
Dr. Taylor is passionate about educational and public health initiatives that address issues involving Black men and their families. Dr. Taylor works as a liaison for organizations, churches, parents, adults, and adolescents so that constructive conversations about sex and sexuality can occur. Dr. Taylor’s research focuses on the impact of structural violence on the mental health and sexual behavior of Black men.
Dr. Taylor has a Doctor of Philosophy with a concentration in Human Sexuality Studies from Widener University. Dr. Taylor has a Master’s degree in Human Sexuality Studies from Widener University, a Master’s degree in Christian Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Fayetteville State University.
Dr. Taylor is an Assistant Professor at LaSalle University- Department of Public Health and Nutrition. He teaches courses that focus on public health issues, race, violence, sexual health, and health disparities. Dr. Taylor has served as an Adjunct Professor at LaSalle University and Drexel University teaching courses that focus on sexual violence, domestic violence, and sexuality.
Dr. Taylor throughout his career has held positions such as Correctional Officer, Probation/ Parole Officer, Domestic Violence Group Facilitator, HIV/AIDS case manager, and addictions counselor. These positions have allowed Dr. Taylor to help individuals working through various stages in their lives.
Dr. Taylor has published in various publications. Dr. Taylor is a member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHC) and serves as a board member of the Strong Families Commission, in Philadelphia.
